This was announced by the First Lady of Ukraine Olena Zelenska.
The wife of the Ukrainian president explained that these camps are for both for Ukrainian and Latvian schoolchildren. According to her, it's very good, because this way the children will understand each other better, including the language.
According to the First Lady of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Embassy in Latvia is looking for sponsors. "We are waiting for Ukrainian camps to open in other countries. We will not give either children or summer to war," Zelenska emphasized.
Six organizations that can provide such services have been selected through a tender called "Ukrainian children's summer camps" by Latvenergo in cooperation with the foundation "Ziedot.lv" for the total amount of 50 000 euros. “Camps will be held in Cesis, Jelgava, Rēzekne and Riga. The camps will help integrate and prepare 167 Ukrainian refugee children for life and education in Latvia," Delfi’s statement reads.
The first camp will start on July 4.
The share of Ukrainian children from refugee families in the camp must be at least 70% of the total number of children.
