The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine released a statement calling on Iran to stop supplying weapons to the Russian Federation.
Ukrainian diplomats emphasize that in the case of continuing arms supplies to Moscow, Tehran will be considered complicit in Russia’s crimes against Ukraine.
“We call on Tehran to immediately stop supplying Russia with any weapons. Otherwise, Iran and its leadership will bear the strictest responsibility, including within the framework of international legal proceedings regarding Russia’s crimes against Ukraine,” the statement reads.
Dmytro Kuleba, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, appealed to the ministers of foreign affairs of the EU member states to impose sanctions on Iran for helping Russia.
“Tough sanctions against Iran are gaining particular relevance amid reports of the Iranian side’s intentions to transfer surface-to-surface ballistic missiles to Russia for their use in the war against Ukraine,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
It was also stressed that in recent weeks, the Russian Federation, using Iranian “Shahed-136” loitering munitions, has carried out attacks on Ukrainian cities more than 100 times.
Drones hit residential buildings, playgrounds, power plants, sewage treatment plants and bridges. The buildings of two diplomatic institutions were also damaged. Dozens of people were killed and injured. It was emphasized that a third of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure was affected.
“Providing weapons for waging a war of aggression in Ukraine and killing Ukrainian citizens makes Iran complicit in the crime of aggression, war crimes and terrorist acts of Russia against Ukraine,” the Foreign Ministry stated.
As reported by Politico with a reference to the U.S. President’s administration official, the USA is preparing new sanctions against Iran.
This comes following reports that Iran plans to transfer new attack drones and missiles to Russia.
“We are absolutely going to sanction anybody who’s helping Iranians help Russians kill Ukrainians,” the U.S. official said, speaking on condition of anonymity.
The U.S. official noted that the Biden administration has in the past publicized such Iran’s weapons sales to Russia and made clear they would lead to penalties.
On October 16, the Washington Post, citing the U.S. and allied security officials, reported that Iran plans to increase its support for Russia and transfer surface-to-surface missiles.
The weapons transfer from Iran could assist the Russian Federation in compensating for the loss of missiles and equipment after the start of a full-scale offensive against Ukraine.

60% of exports went to Asia and Africa: President Zelensky spoke about the results of the "grain initiative"
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy called for increasing the export of Ukrainian grain, reminding that Russia's aggressive actions threaten mass starvation. According to the guarantor, within the framework of the food initiative, more than 30 ships have already left the ports of Ukraine, while 60% of the exports went to the countries of Asia and Africa.
He stated this in an evening video message.
According to him, when Russia blocked Ukrainian ports and disrupted normal food supply chains, it returned the whole world to a situation as if these decades of international work for food security did not exist.
"Fortunately, Ukrainian ports have started to work again for the export of agricultural products. Since July, we have been supplying the exact amount of food that restores stability to the world market. And to those segments of the food market that provide the consumption of some of the most fragile countries in Africa and Asia," Zelensky noted.
Despite the fact that Ukrainian export opportunities are still far from complete, Ukraine was able to export almost 8 million tons of food by sea.
"It’s more than 300 ships. 60% of this volume was sent to Africa and Asia. This is the global mission of our country: and thanks to Ukrainian supplies, entire regions of the world maintain social and political security," the guarantor emphasized.

EU allocates €500 million to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine
This is reported by the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine.
This assistance will be provided under the European Peace Fund. The total contribution of the European Union within the framework of the fund will reach €3.1 billion.
“The mobilisation of an additional €500 million by EU member states is yet another proof that we remain steadfast in our support to the Ukrainian armed forces to defend the country against the escalating illegal aggression. Russia’s latest indiscriminate attacks on Ukrainian civilians and civilian infrastructure are another proof of Russia’s complete disrespect for human rights and international law,” Josep Borrell, High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, stated.
